I just finished a new build and am having issues with getting the onboard video to send any signal to my monitor. I've built my fair share of pc's in the past, so I'd like to think I'm relatively familiar with things, although it's been 6-7 years since my last build and some things have changed slightly so I could be overlooking something I suppose. Anyhow, I'm using an i5-4670k, Asus Z87 Pro, 8GB (2 x 4GB) GSKILL Sniper 1866, a Crucial m500 240gb, and a Fractal R4 case.
When I added in an old discrete graphics card (sadly, an old GeForce 9600 GT), it boots up just fine with no problems at all. If I connect using the DVI on my monitor to the onboard ports, nothing happens when I boot other than the case apparently turning on normally, just with no monitor signal. It strangely seems that my case doesn't have an onboard speaker as far as I can tell to give any beep codes, unless I'm overlooking the speaker and wire somewhere...so I'm not getting any beep codes. It looks to get stuck saying A0 on the motherboard LED when connected to onboard, which strangely looks to be the same thing that happens when I successfully boot using a discrete card. I believe the onboard video is showing up in the BIOS since I can enable multiple monitors and select IGPU in a couple of the menus. The HD 4600 only shows up in Windows if I have multiple monitors enabled, which I assume is likely automatically disabled by default when a discrete card is detected.
I've tried most everything I can think of with my current equipment. I've disconnected everything except a single stick of RAM from the board (no HDD or anything else) and tried booting up with the same results. I've checked for bent pins in the CPU socket and reseated the CPU and put new paste/grease....same result. Can anyone think of something simple I may be overlooking? I know the BIOS is a little different than I'm used to, so is there somewhere I'm not seeing where the IGPU has to be enabled that might not be worded in a very obvious way? The only other things I can think of to try is to get an adapter to try plugging into the HDMI/VGA slots to see if the result is the same, but I don't have either currently.
