Once I'm connected to a vpn, do I stay connected?

I've recently downloaded a VPN, because I need to use it for something soon. Will I be permanently connected to the VPN now that I have downloaded it?

It depends on the vpn client. Some you must manually restart if you boot the machine. Some have timeouts for inactivity that will require you to relog in. There are likely options that cab affect those things.

It will stay on as long as your computer is on and the connection isn't interrupted. That's why it is important to get a VPN service that offers a kill switch and set it on the system level. In that case, if your connection goes down it won't leak any of your data. I personally use NordVPN and you can set it to connect when your computer is turned on. Also, it has a kill switch.

It depends on your vpn settings if you have set the vpn that it will connect automatically on boot then it will connect until you disconnect it. otherwise, it will disconnect after you turn off your pc.
