I'm getting to the point where a major overhaul of my PC is due, and this time I should probably retire my dear old monitor, a Samsung SyncMaster T240.
My new PC is likely to i7-8700k based, and have an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080, and so I'm kind of tempted by a GSync capable screen, but don't want to overspend on a gimmick. I'm also keen on IPS because I do some video editing, 3D (Blender), and Photo editing work. I'd like solid gaming performance, too.
My question is, is it worth spending the money on something like an Asus ROG Swift PG279Q, when for a similar price I could get three Dell UltraSharp U2415 (and buy them one at a time to spread the cost)?
When I'm not working, I love things like FarCry 5, Ghost Recon Wildlands, Elite Dangerous and Assasins Creed Origins.
I'd love my new monitor to still be giving good service nearly ten years on, and a couple of rebuilds later, like this one has. Any advice gratefully received.
