Ok, got my Nokia 3589i yesterday from Verizon. Works great so far.
Just wondering a couple things I couldn't find answers to in the
manual:

- On the main call screen (that says Verizon at the top), there is a
"1x" in the upper left corner, what in the world does that mean?

- While calling someone, there was a flashing triangle near the top of
the screen, I assume that meant I was within my local calling area,
correct? If I were roaming, what would be displayed? An R? The word
"Roaming"? Something else?

What did the owner's manual say? What did Verizon say when you called
them?

A flashing triangle means you were on the extended network. The call
would be included in your minutes.

A solid triangle would indicate roaming off the network or extended
network. You would pay extra for this call.

Well whats odd is I made a call last night when the main screen said
"Verizon" then I get the flashing triangle after I make the call. Then
Verizon's CD manual says to check roaming minutes, go to your call
timer and look at "Other Networks" minutes. Well that call showed up
under there. I assume thats because it was on the Extended Network
and not Verizon so its still not roaming, right?

I'm afraid of a time that it says "Verizon" or "Extended Network" on
the screen, I make the call, and then I get the solid triangle *after*
dialing without noticing, since I first assumed it was an in network
or extended network call.

Since most Verizon phones display network, extended network, and roaming
differently, its hard to tell what's going on with your phone. In the 1.5
years I've had Verizon I have never roamed.

Your best bet would be to call CS or visit a Verizon store at least two
different times to ask your question. Odds are you'll get a different answer
each time. In that case do it a third time for the tie breaker :)

I believe the triangle is the symbol for roaming. If you are in your calling
area that would not be displayed. 1X is the connection type. That is what I
was told by CS

He'll probably get a third different answer.
