[SOLVED] One of my HDDs is asking for password I never set ?

I am using Linux Mint 20.

I was working on my machine. Suddenly vscode could not save the file. Then when I restarted my machine it showed the following on the boot screen.

I removed the HDD to boot and post this question.

What is going on? I never set a password for this HDD.

No this is a desktop.

My hdd died. The circuit is ok. But the problem is with the head. I am availing a data recovery service now. After diagnosys they said probably 99-100% of data will be recovered.

P.S. Sorry for not being able to respond earlier. I was busy running around with my HDD.

was hdd out of a Toshiba pc then as i can see that message seems to tie into the bios of the laptop it was installed in. Seems its a way they tie the hardware to the device.
