Problem:
One of my 3 hard drives randomly disappears when windows is running. When I restart the PC it doesn't get fixed and I'm stuck on the Post screen and now somestimes the BIOS also doesn't read the third disk. If I shut down the PC and start it up again it gets fixed and later sometime it'll randomly disappear.
Setup:
CPU: i5 3330
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H
RAM: 8GB DDR3 2x4GB
GPU: nVIDIA 630 GT 2GB
OS: Windows 8.1
Disk 1: Kingston SV300S37A120G 120 GB has the OS installed on it
Disk 2: Seagate ST500DM005 500 GB has games installed, game setups, movies and other stuff
Disk 3: Samsung SSD 850 EVO 250 GB has a large PostgreSQL database and some other files. This is the disk that disappears
More Info
The problem started after I installed the Disk 3, Samsung SSD. Before that I had the Kingston SSD with the OS and Seagate HDD and everything was fine.
I have updated my BIOS, I have tried reattaching the cables I have made sure the Samsung SSD has the latest firmware, nothing has helped so far.
PS: The Sata Controllers in the BIOS are set to IDE and all my drives have MBR partition style. Does any of this make a difference?
No idea what to do next and how to fix this problem.
