Question OneNote Set Date

I have never used OneNote before, but I use Microsoft 365 and I'm trying to use the app for windows 10 (not the cloud version). The first note on the new page that comes up is dated M 5/1/2017. How do I change this to today's date ( 12/25/2022) and set it so that all dates will be correct going forward?

Starting a New Section on mine, it correctly shows the current date.

I am seeing the date directly to the left of "Untitled Page" on the yellow screen and it has a line above it.

OneNote is a bit weird...there is no dedicated "save" function.
Once written, it is 'saved'.

2. where is the file saved to on my hard drive so that I can make a backup copy?

On my Win 11 system, OneNote data lives in /Documents/OneNote Notebooks
