It can be any software almost impossible to tell. It is pretty easy to try other drivers. I would get the latest one from the chipset vendors web site. I am going to bet it makes no difference but maybe you get lucky.

Rather than replace the router try a ping to the router IP from another device. If both have issues then you suspect the router.
