Scammer online can only access your system if you go install their "super important" software to fix your PC.

Hackers like Kevin Mitnick are not the people getting in your PC.

Don't go on shady websites. Don't open email attachments you don't know and don't install software you don't know nothing about.

Install a pop up blocker extension on your browser like Ublock Origin. Download Malwarebytes. Download a free antivirus or pay for one and use microsoft defender.

All of this can help but the most important thing is you. How you use your system. Do it intelligently and you will never have a virus. Someone tells you "Install that super undetectable aimbot in this game" and send you a file. No. You don't install that. You receive a weird link from a friend on Steam and you don't know what it is and that friend didn't say anything? Don't click on it. You receive an email called "You just won 1 million dollars" you don't open the attachment.

You're never really 100% safe. There are people out there with a large knowledge of how security works and if they wanted they could probably get in your PC but don't worry about that. It's as rare as getting struck as lightning unless they have something personal against you.

You receive a call on the phone from someone insisting you owe taxes to them or they tell you you have a virus on your computer and they want to help you remove it. It's all a lie. They cannot do anything to you unless you open the door first.
