Okay, this is officially pissing me off. Around 6-8 months ago I fully built my first computer from scratch alone, and all has been going fine until I upgraded my graphics card.
GeForce GTX 650Ti -> GeForce GTX 760tf
So first off, the list of specs for my PC are as follows.
Motherboard: Asus m5a99fx pro r2.0 (actually wish I would have gotten something smaller at this point in time)
CPU: AMD FX-8350 Black Edition
GPU: MSI GTX 750tf
RAM: Standard 8gb
OS (in case it matters): 8.1 Pro
PSU: Corsair CX750W 80 Plus Bronze
Windows installed on a 256gb SSD
Steam is on a 1tb HDD
Case: THOR v2 the white one
TL;DR These are my specs, my roaming 3d games are freezing, when they do the music and sound FX continues. Is this a GPU issue?
There were two major, or majorly annoying issues that I had with the computer from day one. The first was that the motherboard fit in the case, but not all the screws were actually down all the way in it, and I read somewhere this could cause a short (dunno if true). The second was that the GPU didn't quite sit very will in the case, when I tried to screw in the screws that sat at the wall next to the I/O plate it caused the card to lean a bit, so I kept it very loose.
The card, for about a month, was phenomenal i was running most of the games that I play on a regular basis; Smite max settings 80+ frames, Dark souls 1 DSFix'd to almost max at a steady 60, Outlast max 70+, yada yada yada. One day while playing Smite my game froze so I let it sit to see if it would work itself out but after 15minutes nothing happened to i CTRL+ALT+DEL'd and then came back to my desk top (not restarting or opening task manager) the game reopened and was running fine but with less frames. Now this happens every time that I play the game, it will crash for a moment, I will CTRL+ALT+DEL and then come back to desktop and it will be playable. But, with every other game I have, at first install and launch it will run fine for however long I want to play it but the second time that I load the game it will freeze immediately. I've reinstalled the drivers countless times, I've reinstalled the games countless times, I've rehoused the card, used different cables and nothing has helped. What is happening here? Also when the game freezes I can still hear the music of the game going on in the background so I'm starting to believe it is just the GPU. Only happens in roaming 3d games. IE: GTA V, Smite, Dark Souls, CS:GO. Doesn't happen in Hearthstone, MTGO, Hotline Miami 2, CIV 5.
I also got this error just now:
