Only 4GB of my ram is usable

I have just built a new computer using 8GB of ddr4 ram but when i get into the os it says only 4 is available and 4 is hardware reserved, this is a problem for me due to the fact that it is a gaming computer and it does not perform at the level it is ment to. Any way i could fix this?

I have tried a bios flash on my motherboard and have reinstalled my windows os.

I have reinstalled the ram, switching the slots and now it is no longer giving me this issue

Specs
motherboard: msi b350 tomahawk
Cpu: ryzen 5 1600
Ram: 8GB Gskill ripjaws v 2400mhz
Os: windows 10 home 64 bit
Gpu msi gt-1030 aero itx

I think this was resolved after reseating the RAM modules in the correct slots with respect to channel (both sticks in the correct channel).
