[SOLVED] Only Booting on 1 RAM Stick

I recently made a pc for my dad using some of my brothers old hardware to get him playing some VR, the pc will only boot with 1 stick of RAM and I would like someone else to confirm that it is a bad motherboard (old asus z170 pro graming).

specs:
intel 6700k
asus z170 pro gaming
16gb hyperx ddr4 3000mhz
750w psu
rtx 2080

Have you tried starting it up with each of the ram sticks separately as I had this same problem a while back but turned out my ram had failed

Yeah I did and I tried Ram stick from my own pc too and the system still only booted with 1 stick

Does it matter which RAM slot you use on the motherboard? Does the single stick work in all slots?

Yeah I tried to use the dual channel in differnet configurations too such as a2,b2 or a1,a2 etc

Kingston doesn't show any Hyperx 3000Mhz 16GB modules for your motherboard only 2400Mhz , the modules have to have chips on both sides (double sided) also. https://www.kingston.com/us/memory/search?model=93063&deviceType=7&mfr=MSI&line=Motherboard Are you trying to get two 16GB modules to work? Booting into windows and posting are two different things. With two ram sticks installed, can you at least get to the bios?
