Only FM2+ can support PCIE 3.0?

Okay so my motherboard says that pcie 3 will only work with fm2+ processors and I have an fm2
I have a 3.0 card and currently it is in pcie 2 and for some space compatibility I want to move it to pcie 3 can I do that and have pcie2 speeds with my card plugged in?

Do I actually need fm2+

no need. there's almost no performance difference in using pci ex 2.0 versus 3.0

I agree with Campean. Don't worry about it. Little to no performance difference between 2.0 and 3.0.

Edit: To answer your question, I believe that is correct. You need a FM2+ CPU to use PCIe 3.0.

As you can see here, there's not any performance difference worth noting. Though,some say in future,motherboards maybe getting updates which could increase performance on a 3.0 slot. At the moment, you can notice no difference between a PCI-E 3.0 and 2.0.

Never a problem. I have a GTX 650(PCI-E 3.0 card), and I used to have an FM1 Mobo. I used the card with that mobo fine and had not even a single issue. So I'd say you need not worry about it. Just put that card into the 2.0 slot and chill up.

but i want to put it in the convenient slot and that slot is a PCIE 3.0. I want to be able to put the card there and I obviously know it would only work with pcie2 speeds because of my processor. But my big question is if I can put the pcie3 card in the pcie3 slot but have it work at pcie2 speeds because my motherboard says that only fm2+ supports pcie 3

yes, you can plug the card in any pci ex 16x slot and it will work

You know something dude, when I said I used my 3.0 card on a 2.0 slot, I was having the AMD A6-3650 APU, which is FM1 and PCI-E 2.0 compliant. So you have nothing to worry about. You won't fry your card, nor would you **** it up..LOL 😀
Just put that card on your Motherboard and will work buttersmooth.
In between, I wouldn't suggest getting an FM2+ APU with this Graphics card in your hand. APUs are intended for systems having no or less powerful GPUs. So If you plan to upgrade your CPU later, make sure to get a CPU and NOT the APU. You could always look at the Intel i series or AMD's FX Vishera, if you're on a budget.

So Incan plug my pcie3 card in my pcie3 slot and because I don't have fm2+ it will work in that slot as usual but at 2.0 speeds. The speed isn't what I'm concerned about and I want it in that slot for space issues

Ok. Let's lay this all out. PCie 3.0 GPUs are backwards compatible. You can connect them to any PCIe slot with the possibility of performance loss due to bandwidth and speeds. As of right now, there is no performance difference between PCIe 2.0 and 3.0.

You can connect the GPU to any PCIe slot you want. It is recommended that you use the top PCIe slot regardless of type. However, any will work.

If you have an FM2 CPU, the PCIe 3.0 slot will act as if it is a 2.0 slot. If you upgrade to a FM2+ CPU, the PCIe 3.0 will perform as designed.

Let me make it clear for you. Just take your card, put it on the 3.0 slot,turn on your system and work hasslefree. You should never worry about anything! I told you I did that on my system and i can remember of not even a single issue. All the games went smooth and...there were not any issues. Trust me dude. Just do it...Put that card on the 3.0 slot.
