My new desktop doesn't have any USB 2 ports. And after alot of failed attempts at connecting headphones to it, I researched about it. I found out that bluetooth dongles can have problem to work with newer USB ports.

Is there a workaround for this somehow, or would my best shot be to get a bluetooth dongle that connects directly into the 3.5 sound jack?

Thanks!

You did not say what your motherboard (or desktop) is, so first - check documentation to confirm there aren't any USB port, on the back panel or internal headers. And since it's a desktop - you can get off-the-shelf PCI or PCI-express board (depending on what you have free on your desktop) with two, four USB-2 ports, for like $15.

Sorry for not being clear enough. Gigabyte GA-Z170-Gaming K3 is the motherboard i have in my build. Every usb port says 3 or 3.1 and i have read on several different places that it doesn't have an usb 2 port.

I haven't thought about buying extra ports into the PCI. Not a bad idea at all. But im not really in need of more ports, as i have about 6, and an extra hub/splitter.

At the moment my cheapest option would still be the bluetooth into the soundjack.

If there are any other options or ideas i gladly receive those.

Thanks

As suspected the motherboard does have USB2 ports. This is directly from gigabyte specs for your motherboard. It would be rare for a motherboard ot not have them when it is part of the chipset to provide them.

Chipset:

6 x USB 3.0/2.0 ports (4 ports on the back panel, 2 ports available through the internal USB header)
4 x USB 2.0/1.1 ports available through the internal USB headers

Chipset+USB 3.1 Controller:

2 x USB 3.1 Type-A ports (red) on the back panel

So pretty much anything except the 2 red ones on the back of your machine will run USB2. If you need USB1 you need to use the internal ones, most times those internal ones and most cases have USB ports that you connect to those headers.

Then i dont understand why it wouldn't work. I've tried all my ports, without any success. I've tried alot of different drivers.
My dongle doesn't have a brand and therefore its hard to look up what specific driver is needed.

Where did you get the info about those USB 2 ports? I might be stupid and/or blind but on their website they only write about USB 3 and 3.1. Are there any different on the EU version of it?

The dongle gets recognized by the computer no mather where i put it in. And no mather what driver i use, either my phone or headphones can connect to it.
