So usually the internet speed is around 25 mb but starting around the 3rd only mine dropped to around 3 mb. The two other computers in the house get normal internet speeds but for some reason mine is really slow. It's around 3mb whether I'm connected directly to the router or if I'm connected via wifi. It's a belkin router and a ubee d3.0? modem and we have comcast internet. My laptop is a Toshiba Satellite C55D-A with Windows 8 and everything else is fine it's just the internet that is very slow.

Any ideas what's wrong? Whether it's my computer or the internet provider or a virus? Help.

(1)Click the internet thing near the time at the bottom-right

(2)Click "Open Network and Sharing Center"

(3)Then, where it says "Connections:" click whatever you're connected to. Probably "Wireless Network Connection (yourroutername)"

(4)On the screen, look where it says "Speed:" what does it say? If it says 130.0 Mbps or something like that, you're probably fine, but if it's on something really low (slower than your connection) then your Wireless card may be busted.

If the other devices at home are getting full speed Internet, but you aren't, even when using cabled Ethernet directly into the router, then I suspect you have a problem with your laptop. You likely have some kind of virus or something.

Run an updated virus scan, spyware tools.

If that doesn't work, you could always run a system restore to before the 3rd when you started getting problems.

If that fails, then you'll have to wipe your hard drive and start afresh I'd say.

Make sure you backup all your important files before attempting system restore or wiping hard drive!

So it turns out I had some weird setting in my advanced system care checked.

It seems to be fixed since i unchecked the reserve bandwidth. if this didn't work I probably would have system refreshed or refreshed the hard drive though.
