Only two of four memory slots work. After getting it to boot I can't install windows.

Just bought new pc components. Put it all together and the system wouldn't boot with memory in second and fourth slot. I try a bunch of combinations and only the last two work. During this testing the yellow led on mother board came on when I had memory in 2nd and 4th slot. Then tried different combinations and when I went back to 2nd and 4th slot I got a red led. I tried using the mem OK button a few times with different sequences. With 3rd and 4th slot filled I got it to boot and it to showed I had 16gb of ram which is correct. All the Temps seems normal. PCH temperature seemed a little higher than the rest (40c) while cpu and mother board weren't over 30c. Ran for a while and it seemed like everything was normal in ASUS Optimal mode.

Changed it to boot from my cd drive and tried to install windows. Gave me an error code of 0x80070570 . Windows cannot install required files. The file may be corrupted or missing. Make sure all files require for installation are available, and restart the installation.

Tried again and it said I could not install Windows on the partition I was using. there was a system partition and the rest of my drive. I didn't make it, it just happened after my first attempt to install windows. Said something about I had my drive set in MBR and I needed GBT ( I totally forget the acronyms). So I watched a YouTube video that said press shift f10 at the part where it says put in product key. I followed instructions that the video said to clear the drive and convert it to said type. it removed the partition and it didn't give me the error anymore. It usually would stop me in installation process at 1% of preparing files to install. Went to about 60% this time and gave me the 0x80070570 error again.

Could this be related to the motherboard as well? Is the disk I'm using defective? Could it be a defective SSD?

During installation I bumped motherboard. As well as touched it without static wrist bracelet attached. Also a bead of sweat hit it. Also messed up installing my cpu without the plastic installation peice. I removed it before I should have. Then I got a tiny bit of thermal paste on the green part near the cpu. I tried to wipe it off with 91% alcohol and got most of it. I had a rough day to say the least.

Should I take it take it to a professional?

Thanks!

Edit: I've since installed a brand new HDD and tried to install Windows 10 and the same error occured.

I tried removing H100i V2 and reinstalling less tight. No change in memory slots 1 & 2 not working.

Also this is my build if that helps. https://pcpartpicker.com/user/odinomnipotent/saved/hcKkLk

I'd make sure to rule out a corrupted windows installation disk first. try redoing it on another disk or usb stick. and the ram has to be in the slots listed in the manual. it's only going to work in the intended configuration. as for potentially damaging the motherboard, believe me when I say I've touched mine plenty of times(with no wrist strap) and bent the hell out of it due to tight-fitting connectors, so it's harder to damage than people think... the sweat though I don't know.

I wouldn't worry about potentially damaging any components, as said. It isn't as easy to damage components as people are made to believe. You might want to make sure your motherboard is set to ACHI mode as you did mention some modes to set to. As for the slots used, it all depends on the board and some boards use slots 1&2, others 1&2/2&4 etc. The problem would seem is that either there's a bios setting wrong that is linked to your HDD/SSD and/or the windows install disk, as said. I would look to use a usb stick to install it.

If you wish, you could put a single stick of RAM in and see what happens (If you hadn't tried that already).

I tried it on a SSD and then a HDD and both didn't work. I tried the slots in the manual but it wouldn't work. Only works in the last two when it should be in the 2nd and 4th.
