Every time I open my browser (Tested with Chrome, Firefox, and Edge) my internet speeds literally to less than a megabit. Not even on a page or anything, just having an empty tab open causes me to go from a solid 15-20 Mbps to .1-2 Mbps. I cant seem to find a solution, anyone know how to fix this?

Start your computer (no browsers) and open one of following tools: Task Manager, Resource Monitor, and Performance Monitor.

Watch what your system is doing for a few minutes. Leave the tool open and running.

Then open one of browsers - see what, if anything changes in the tool you are using.

Repeat the process using the other tools.

What you are looking for is some process, service or application that is grabbing a large % of some resource when a browser is opened. And does not release that resource when the browser is closed.

Be methodical and keep notes.

I tried to find the issue and found that when I minimize the browser everything runs as normal, but when its open it doesnt.

See if you can identify a specific process or service that changes with maximizing and minimizing the browsers' windows.

What you will need to do is have the applicable monitor screen (Task, Resource, or Performance) open and visible. Instead of minimizing the browser window drag it off screen to reveal the monitor.

If all browsers exhibit the same slowness then there is a bottleneck perhaps graphics or memory related) that slows overall system performance including the network.

Keep "digging".

I have task manager running on my second monitor at almost all times and never notice a spike of any kins except for a windows program.

Also watch Resource Monitor and Performance Monitor.

The situation being that applications (browsers) used to connect to the internet via your network are slowing your network.

Or are being slowed somewhere else...

Do you have admin access to your router?

Yes, I have admin access. I will continue to monitor for any fishy stuff.

http://prntscr.com/ey3s42 only things that change when I minimize/maximize my browser

What version of Windows are you running? Firefox (32 bit) x 2?

Not otherwise noting anything catches my attention per se. Perhaps someone else will note something I am missing....

There are 10 "Service Host": Network Listings - do not appear to be problem via the screenshot. However, see if you can identify what they are associated with by right-clicking and selecting Properties. Anything network or browser related should be investigated.

Other actions you can take:

Try disabling apps that you do not use (or use that often) from the startup menu.

Then do the same with apps that you do use but only one at a time.

Looking for the source of the bottleneck.
