Question opening settings turns off monitor and back on

Have you tried updating your GPU drivers?

what are specs of the pc?

rtx 2070, i7-9700k, 16gb ram, 750w psu and yes i've updated everything 7 different times
It's either my monitor at this point or something with my gpu

What is your monitor? Have you also tried switching ports on your gpu and monitor? If you see artifacting that is your GPU however flickering sometimes when changing settings is quite normal for me.

the monitor has freesync and i was using the g sync compatibility. Now after turning it off i played the game that showed the most amount of flickering and its completely stopped so i guess that was it? doesn't make much sense as to why it would have been so random being like [bad language removed] and flickering with some games while others just flashing on and off constantly
