Hello guys I had a couple of quick questions let me know if you can help. I'm about to upgrade my computer in a lot of different ways, I'm getting a new motherboard, a new cpu, a new gpu, and a new psu. Everything else is staying the same including my HDD. I was reading articles and other posts that say you need to re install windows when you get a new motherboard. This might be an issue because I have already installed windows 10 and obviously I don't have a disk or an activation key for it because I reserved it and just downloaded it. That being said, I do have my windows 8.1 disk and that activation key code. Keep in mind I intend on keeping my hard drive and everything on it. Please let me know am I going to have to re install windows 10? Will it be quick and easy even though I don't have a disk (I have it on the hard drive I'm keeping)

Thanks if you read this, it's probably full of grammatical errors just ignore it I kind of wrote it in one shot with no rough draft lol.

Solution
A new motherboard will always benefit from a fresh operating install. You should back up your hard drive and then re install windows 8.1 and then upgrade back to windows 10 and put all your backed up files onto the pc again. I know how inconvenient this can be because I had to do this myself recently but its your best bet for your pc to work at its best after changing so many parts.

Solution
You should be able to download a windows 10 ISO to do a fresh install, the problem you will run into though is that the windows 10 license is tied to your hardware (motherboard) so with all new parts the windows 10 you currently have won't work. Since it's still the free period for windows 10 you might be able to install your windows 8 and then upgrade but if that doesn't work you will need to contact microsoft and left them know your hardware has changed so they can reassign the windows 10 license to your new setup.
