Opinion for a small game server

For far too long I rent a VDS. I use it to run a minecraft server (FTB modpacks if that matters) and a personal cloud to store photos or other small files. I've been paying 25E per month, so it rounds up at 300E per year.

For some time though, I've been tempted to build my own server and stop paying monthly at a service provider. Yet, I cant fit a xeon processor in my budget. And here's where I need your opinion:

A few months ago I was introduced to the AMD's AM1 platform and intel's j1900 and n3150 celeron processors that (all of them) offer low power CPU solutions at a reasonable price. For the last 4 months I've been searching the web for a thread/blog/article that tests these processors at running game server software. Yet, I havent found any.

After that long introduction I'm here, asking for your humble opinion (or more) on my situation.
Should I try and build the machine?
Is it going to be a waste of time and money?

P.S. YES YES I KNOW IT CAN WORK AS A FILE STORAGE MACHINE ! I'M ASKING ABOUT THE GAME SERVER !

Solution
I highly recommend an Athlon 5350 system. It's probably the best for a low power system. You could get an Athlon 5350, 8GB of RAM, an SSD and all the other parts for $200USD and a negligible power cost.

Yes, BUT is it going to be enough for a game server?

Well, the server is kinda private (5 players at most). The thing is that it is heavily modded (100+ mods) and that's what I'm afraid that will push the cpu's to their limits.
