I got a 1TB SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD for Christmas(SanDisk 1TB Extreme Portable External SSD) and I also have a NexStar hard drive dock(Vantec NST-D300S3).
I want to regularly backup my important files/documents & keep it separate from my PC(to have a safeguard in case of ransomware/drive fail etc).
The SanDisk portable cost $200 taxes in. Is using the NexStar hard drive dock just as good a solution for regular backups?
I can get a 2.5" SSD on sale, put it in the dock, do the backup and then eject it.
If the docking solution is almost as good as the portable ssd then I'll return the portable unit and save $200. BUT if the portable unit is head and shoulders better option, I'd keep it.
Opinions?
Thanks.
