Hello everyone,

So ill try to be short and to the point.

In 2015 i built a rig with the following components:

GPU: MSI Radeon R9 390 8GB
CPU: i7 4790 3,6 Ghz (its the non K version)
Motherboard: Asrock z97 killer fatality
Power supply: EVGA Supernova 750G G2 750 watt
RAM: 8GB DDR3

So i havent used this rig for the past couple years but have decided that i will start a little bit of gaming again.
I am looking to buy a 27 inch monitor, curved (21:9) with 2560x1440 resolution and 144hz refresh rate and would like to play new games at the aforementioned resolution.

So in essence i will be playing games at 2k resolution and i would like to play it smoothly at 60 FPS.

I was thinking of upgrading only my graphics card with a newer one but am not exactly sure what to get.

So in short i would like your guys opinion regarding the following topics:

  • Which GPU should i get - im looking to buy in the price range of 400 euros (around 500 dollars)
  • Will i need to upgrade my CPU so it doesnt bottleneck any new graphics card
  • Do you see any other potential bottlenecks if i buy a new graphcis card and add it to my current rig
  • Are there any other components that would be good to upgrade
  • Which graphics cards are compatible with my motherboard
Thank you all for any feedback !

Best regards,

Solution
At 1440p,you are more likely to use your GPU,so the bottleneck isnt that big,it also isnt that big of a problem if im being honest.
You dont need to ugprade your cpu.
I would upgrade the ram to 16gb
Every graphics card is compatible with your motherboard.
You dont need to swap out your powersupply.
So bassicaly buy another 8gb stick of ram or a new 2x8gb kit,and buy a 3060Ti in my opinion
