Hi,

i'm thinking about buying a T3 but haven't got an opportunity
to play the game to get to know it.
Since there isn't a rulesheet i would like to know what kind of modes
there are and are they fun. How many mb's are there and what are the
goals. Does the machine keep you busy with constantly changing
objectives and random gameplay like stacking possibility's. Does it get
boring quickly ?
Any info is appreciated.

Thx

I've tried to play T3 at least 3-4 times when I find one at the
auctions. I've never been able to get into it at all. The machine
just doesn't seem to have much appeal for me (IMHO).

Henri,
I have had a my t3 for about 9 months and like it alot.
It is not my only machine, as it complements tz and cv
very well. Nice sound and lights, pretty easy rules, cool
final battle mode. I am not a very good player, so I dont get
to final battle very often. When guests come over, it gets
the most play. I could see how good "players" would get bored
with it very quickly. I like it best out of all the new Sterns.
Including lotr and tspp.

I have played it back when it first came out quite a bit.

Fun enough, but I was always glad to come home to my T2.
The gun on T2 is a lot mroe fun then the back box ping pong game on
T3.

Also the plastics and playfield art are all very cheapy looking on T3
to me. there will be no problem making accurate repos of T3 plastics.

Was my first machine ever and I enjoyed it. Fast and good flow. As
another mentioned it is somewhat easy, that is 'if' you get into the
flow. If you start missing shots it will punish you with quick drains.
So for a good player it could get boring after some time. I traded mine
for I*J but would entertain owning one again down the road.

I have been playing it at lunch for a while now. If *I* can get 2
Finals Battles in one game, it is easy.

That said, it is pretty fun, some good shots. Multiball jackpot it
lame, RPG gets a little old. Stackable modes add to the fun.

"shoot here and here"

If I were you I'd play it before buying.

JOhn!

Great machine!! I miss mine. I had it for over a year. As long as you
do not have the original as well. No offense towards T2, just a lot of
similarities between the 2 machines.

I have only played T3 twice, on a fully working game. All others I
found either did not operate at all, or had serious issues keeping them
from working properly. The two games on the one at the Texas Pinball
Festival I found quite fun. However, two games isn't near enough to
judge this game on. Superficially I liked it. Beyond that...?

I just chose T2 over T3 after playing them both extensively.

I played both T2 and T3, and then decided on T3. IMHO the new NIB T3
was superior to the "shopped" T2. Better flow, quality, thick
stainless steel ramps, lighting, RPG mode, video mode/graphics in
general, even the music and sounds are better. The advancements are
apparent from 1991 to 2003. If you can get your hands on a NIB or a
newer T3 get one, it will give you many, many hours, days, months, and
years of fun.

I do not mean to bash or disrespect T2...its a good machine as well but
T3 in my opinion is better, you could say a Turbo charged, updated
version of T2

All good points. It also depends if you have an issue with the "feel"
of Stern vs Wms/Bly. I own 8 titles, only one of which is a Stern and
it would be the first to go if I had to sell one.

Try this site to get a good idea of what the gameplay and ruleset is like.

http://www.pinball.org/rules/

and then look for the Terminator 3 link.

My buddy has a T3 and he loves the game.

Good luck,

Ken

I have played T2 a few times as a real pinball and a lot in PinMame, i
do like the
Terminator theme and like the gun. But i think with T2 you have seen
everything
in the game very quick and there is only one multiball. Since T3 takes
after T2
i'm afraid i will get bored very quick if there isn't more to the game
rules wise.
In T3 I like the stackable modes, but as far as i can tell you have
Payback, Red
, Blitzkrieg, Assult, the wizard mode Final Battle and one regular
multiball.
That isn't really much, so what makes the game interesting to play and
to keep
coming back for.

Exactly.

I always looked at Terminator 3 as an "homage" to the original Terminator 2,
very similar to how Getaway is a nod at High Speed and Jackbot is a nod at
Pinbot. They're very similar games with subtle changes and slight
software/rule changes (in this case, the changes are not only software/rules
but also in operating system and companies).

Personally I enjoy T3 a lot. The entire 2003 lineup of pins by Stern was
remarkable. It was a hell-uv-a-year. :)
