Opinions on 2 pre-built systems.

I'm not great on the hardware side of things so pre-built is the safer choice for me. I was initially going to get the Aura (Asus) system but over the weekend I guess they ran out of stock and they changed some of the parts. Keep in mind the prices are in AUD, though the $100 difference doesn't really bother me. I'd prefer the Asus GPU unless someone can convince me otherwise. No it's not the factory OC version.

The motherboard got downgraded from the Pro Gaming Aura version to the current z170-ar which I can live with, unless the Gigabyte mobo is the better option. It's the cooler and the PSU that i'm not sure about as I can't find any comparisons between the two. Different people use different testing methods meaning different results so I can't use 2 separate tests to compare. My current psu has always had issues since i got it and I've never used water cooling before. (currently have 750 ti system)

I doubt i'll be getting a 1080 ti but I won't buy anything until I see it revealed, which is maybe a week away? Would just like opinions on what system would be better in those regards, also in case there is a part in there that is known to be bad or something. $3000 is a lot of money @.@

I'd go with the first (though both are a bit pricey)
The AR is on par with the Gigabyte board of the second
And the PSU is considerably better than the Straight Power.
The Strix is a nice card, so is the G1, personally I'd prefer the Strix though it's usually more expensive.

PCCG is Australian. It's about $2236 USD ($3100 AUD) and it's the cheapest I can find, + PCCG are good. Wish i could change to 16gb RAM at least to save me like $150. Seen other sites go up to $4000 by having unnecessary upgrades like i7 6800k as minimum. My friend is also building their own PC soon and has a similar price estimate. Also that case, apart from the cable side glass, is sexy. Thanks for your input.

I'm mostly on the fence about the coolers as the fan on the pump on the Cyrorig seems good but the h100i seems to be the most popular cooler

tbh liquid cooling is pretty much overkill for a 6700k.
both should do with ease.

yeah I mean if you were to build it yourself you'd save around 600$
but I sympathize with your line of thought.

Adding up all the parts separately, while getting the HDD price from elsewhere since it isn't stocked at PCCG anymore/listed wrong one, added up to $3011. Searching for the same parts at other places including US stores, PCCG is actually cheaper. Not trying to argue or anything. might just be my limited knowledge of PC building.

I want this PC to last for 5+ years so i want to get good parts. I agree, I didn't really want liquid cooling but that's what I get I guess. Doesn't cost that much more than a good air cooler. I'll probably OC the CPU though.

My friend lives in another state. About 18 hour drive. And it's their first time building one so I can't really put it in their hands haha.

Strange I added all or equal parts in au.pcpartpicker.com and it summed at 24XX$

Anyway it's a good build that will last.
However what kind of screen do you use?
Because if it's a 1080p/60Hz screen going for a 1070 will be far better value as the 1080 will outdate all the same at some point.

I tried pcpartpicker and got up to 2900. I think you may have clicked some of the parts that didn't have any price attached to them. I almost did until i took a second look. Some of the cheaper parts are on sites that i've never heard of and they look... dodgy. Like MSY if you've heard of them. Really cheap parts but 95% of reviews are bad lol. I've never had any trouble with them but I never spent $3000 on them and never will. Also some of them have christmas sales going on which PCCG doesn't do. Either way $200 for them to build it + safe business is good

At the moment it's a 1080 60hz though I do plan on getting a 144 hz in the future. Maybe a 1440p/144hz if I feel like it.

I see. Well being from the opposite side of the planet I don't know what kinds of shops can be trusted over there.

It's a good build for 2k or 2k/144Hz.
Will serve you just fine!
