So I have been working hard fixing computers around town to finally have enough to build my first PC! I am super excited to have a fully customizable computer that is none OEM branded. So far for my budget I am looking at using these components. I want to get everyone's opinions if this would be a good gaming PC for the next couple years or so. I also do lots of editing in after effects, photoshop and some other creation apps from Autodesk and Adobe. Feel free to add your opinion about what I could get that is better being that I haven't bought the motherboard, ram, or CPU yet. I will add a (*) to what I currently own.

Motherboard:
ASRock 990FX Extreme3 AM3+
Processor:
AMD FX-6300 Vishera(6 cores)
Graphics Card:
Nvidia GTX 660 Ti*
RAM:
1 stick of CORSAIR XMS 4GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM (This is temporary till I can get the dominator series)

I have the PSU as well, (450 W) I will be installing some liquid cooling also. Those are future plans.

Well, Right now I have about $260, I have the PSU, and the 660 Ti, So all I need now is to get the new Mobo, RAM, CPU combo. I was looking on newegg and found this: http://bit.ly/11GafY2 Do you think this would pull off BF4 and other new games okay? If not I'll just save until I can afford an i5 but that might take a while.

i actually have that processor and ram (different size clocked at 1600) if you look in my sig you can see my build. anyway i can max every game. Some like crysis 3 i drop down a little but for example i max bioshock inf, battlefield 2, mw2,mw3,bo2, gta 4 is f*cked up for some reason i get like 25 fps on low (i think its because it cant recognize my video card has 3 gb), l4d2, both portals, metro 2033, the witcher. Games i can max but bump some settings down so i can get 60 fps are crysis 3, far cry 3. Also i run ps2, gamecube, ds, gameboy, and n64 emulators and they all run great.

Now as for your build i think it will be good. i would get this gpu as it is better then the 66 ti, and better then most 7870's. The architecture is the same as in 7950 and 7970, so it is only marginaly different then the 7950. its also cheaper http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131484&Tpk=7870%20le&IsVirtualParent=1

Not a bad option, running ram in single channel at 1333 will hurt performance, but you plan on remedying that later. I cant tell yah how BF4 will run, but BF3 seems to run much better on the Intel procs. If you could add a bit to the budget.

Then add another 4Gb stick later, and if you live close to a Microcenter you maybe able to get the motherboard and cpu cheaper.

yea i would lean more towards intel if you can. I went with amd because i wanted a better gpu, however the intel i5 is a better cpu then the fx 6300. although i hate to admit it in some games that arent optimized for multi cores, my friends alienware laptop (with i7 and gt 650m) gets more fps, even though his gpu is much worse then mine. however as im sure bignastyid knows only the intel cpus ending in "k" are overclockable so keep that in mind. Also the fx 6300 is a 6 core, however they arent 6 individual core. There are 3 modules with 2 cores each. Those 2 cores share cache, so its not a "true" 6 core. From what i understand..

oh haha. the last intel cpu i have owned was the core 2 duo in my mac (of course not able to overclock, especially since it runs around 80 celsius under load lol), so its been awhile since ive experimented with them
