Hi. I've built one gaming pc before, and upgraded a few things here and there (GPU, CPU, RAM, etc) but I've never upgraded my motherboard. I even have a nice case with USB 3.0 inputs, while my motherboard does not have USB 3.0. Also, to save a few bucks, and because I was younger and more..um..."rebellious and dumb" let's say, I pirated a Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit system. I don't like that. I want an original copy of Windows 10 Pro (just because I can turn off the autoupdate feature in the PRO version), a new motherboard, maybe a better cpu, an SSD, and maybe some more RAM (not really necessary though). Anyway my current specs are as follows:
Operating System
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1
CPU
Intel Core i7 3770 @ 3.40GHz 40 °C
Ivy Bridge 22nm Technology
RAM
8,00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 532MHz (7-7-7-19)
Motherboard
ASRock H61M-VG3 (CPUSocket) 39 °C
Graphics
SONY TV (1920x1080@60Hz)
4095MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 (Gigabyte) 33 °C
Storage
465GB ATA TOSHIBA DT01ACA0 SCSI Disk Device (SATA) 35 °C
Optical Drives
HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GH24NS95 SCSI CdRom Device
Audio
NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device (Wave Extensible) (WDM)
Now, the upgrades I am thinking of getting are:
1. Windows 10 Pro: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01019TDJ8?keywords=microsoft%20windows%2010%20pro&qid=1449288146&ref_=sr_1_2&sr=8-2
2. Intel i7-4790k: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KPRWAX8?keywords=intel%204790k&qid=1449288198&ref_=sr_1_1&sr=8-1
3. MSI z97 Gaming 5: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00K8KPXUO?keywords=msi%20atx%20ddr3&qid=1449288227&ref_=sr_1_2&sr=8-2
4. Samsung 850 EVO 500 GB SSD: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OAJ412U?keywords=samsung%20850%20evo&qid=1449288224&ref_=sr_1_1&s=pc&sr=1-1
5. The two items bundled in with that Samsung SSD: the sata to usb cable and the mounting kit.
Now the thing is...it would be GREAT if I could get a new operating system with a clean install, new processor, an SSD, new motherboard with SLI capabilities...EVERYTHING at once. But the whole set is over $800, and that is a huge investment. I COULD make it, but would prefer to hear some opinions first: is everything worth it? Is everything compatible? Is the cpu-mobo-OS combo worth it? Should I buy everything at once? Should I wait? Should I buy some things before others? In that case, what should be my priority?
I'll answer some expected questions first:
1. Why the hell did you pirate Windows?
R/. I was young and dumb. Sorry. Therefore, I can't upgrade freely to Windows 10 (already tried it).
2. Why buy everything from Amazon?
R/. I don't live in the US. I am subscribed to a service that gives me a US address, and everything that gets there is shipped to me in my country (at an additional cost...which makes the overall price even higher). I use Amazon because I've never had an issue with them. Never bought from Newegg (not because I don't trust them, but simply because I haven't wanted to) and don't plan on buying anything on eBay (past experiences....).
I know it's a long question, but I would really like some answers, and this community seems very nice. Thanks a lot in advance and I'm open to any suggestions!
