Question Optiplex 5440 MT max memory

I know spec sheets aren't always correct. I have a vostro 3550 laptop that says its max is 8gb, that I have running 16 gb(and windows 11) My question is the Optiplex 5440 MT sheet says it can only go to 16gb (for some reason I saw one for the SFF that said 32 gb) Can the 5440 take 32gb or has anyone tried?

are you sure you got the mini tower name correct ?.

ive seen a Dell Optiplex 5040 MT but not what your descibing which each channel can have a max of 8gb so per slot

Yes 2 slots( 2x8gb) for a max of 16 is what I've read. for some reason it says the SFF can take more. https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000132428/dell-optiplex-memory-compatibility-guide or does it mean 4x4gb for 16gb in the MT?

thanks. That being on the Dell site, and it being a typo, had me wondering why the MT would go to less than the SFF

dell does alot of stupid things and alot of irritating things and are penny pinching on loads of stuff is why i tell anyone i am friends with to avoid dells machines period especially Alienware they started the proprietary psu crap and then lenovo copied and so on lol.
