Optiplex 755 boot problem

my dell optiplex 755 will only boot when I have the OS disk in the optical drive. Otherwise, it fails as no drive detected. I don't have to touch anything during boot up but insert the disk and wait for it to bypass my optical drive. Once complete, it boots normally from the hard drive. Is there a fix for this problem? In the bios i have the hard drive as my 1st choice and cdrom as the 2nd. Please help.

I am having the same problem with the same model. When the disk is in, it loads right up but without it will not detect the HD. I thought maybe it was a problem with the boot.msg but no such luck yet. Anyone have an ideas?
