I had to re-install my operating system (XP), am trying to install the chipset driver that is Dell supplied (Intel AMT HECI, v 3.2.20.1049PV, A02), and it will not install. There are three files involved, and apparently one is the AMT, and I went into safe mode and it said that the AMT installed, but my system tray says differently.
It says status unknown, and when I click on that AMT Icon, a window comes up that says it is disabled. I've heard that AMT is not even necessary if you don't use remote access (which I don't). Some say I need to install Dell Desktop System Software. I have installed my chipset drivers before without all this hastle.
Why won't these files load and install?
