About to order either a x800GTO or a 7600GT, seems the gt will be fine on my PSU of 300w, is the extra $97 worth the boost in performance?

Nviddia is superior in opengl. dont buy ati, period. it not just framerates, nvidia's opengl is better in many apects like colors , gamma etc..

Yup,another NV fanboy post.
Get the x850Xt. You can find it at reasonable prices and it will beat the crap out of the 7600GT.

Perz is full of $hit.

I assume this is for PCI-express?

Get an X850 XT... under $200, great card.

The 7600 GT is a good card, but the X850 XT is notably better.

Your 300w PSU might have a problem with either one. If you experience crashing in a game after your upgrade, it's a very likely suspect.

If you want to spend under $150, look for a n X800 GTO 128mb, also a very good card.

Um, those cards are not in the same league and there should be other choices inbetween as well. Don't listen to fanboys telling you to avoid ATI or NVidia, that is simply bad advice that lately is getting very annoying. People base personal preference or loyalty toward one company as fact, and then post it as lame bias advice. NV is superior in Linux support though, but in Windows consider either and pick what's best for you and your games. I've used countless cards and pretty much split evenly between ATI or NV which I buy as neither offers the best card in every game or in budget range at any time, never mind compensating for new releases and price changes. Both are good, both have good points and bad.

I don't know where you are from, but in the USA the 7600GT is a very nice card for under $200. I'd consider a X850XT also as it should perform on par (better in some games worse in others) for as low as $160, but it gives up SM3.0 support. Next would be the 6800GS, which in it's higher clocked PCI-e form beats out the X800GTO and is about equal to a X800XL or X850 pro. Then comes a the X800GTO. All good cards depending on your budget, your system specs, the games you play, and the resolution you game at. If you have large LCD, you will want to stick to it's native resolution, so don't skimp on a gaming card that can't handle your games at that resolution.

well unless your going to buy an x1xxx series ati i would go Nvidia because of PS3.0(VS also) it will most likely have an even greater impact on future games. i vote for the 6800GS. but the 7600GT will consume way less power due to the 90nm proccess as most all of their reviews say at newegg it stays cool even with that crappy stock cooler. Good Luck.

I tend to think the X850XT would be faster overall also, but both would trade blows to some extent. If anyone sees a direct comparison/review between the two, please post it. I have been looking but can't find any. Probably have to wait until digit-life adds the 7600GT to it's charts.

Or you can say "nVidiot"

I'm not a fanboy, i actually own a radeon 9800 thats a great card, but i have learned that ATI's openGL-inplementation (i dont know if its the hardware or drivers really) is less good than my friends nvidiacards. Sorry.
The DirectX is equally good though, so if you run only such games by ati and be happy. 😀

If you dont recognize the facts then you must be the fanboys...

Well I ordered the x800gto a few days ago, I couldn't find another $60 or so dollars to spend on an x850xt, and if I bought that there is a good chance I would of needed a PSU replacement. Thanks for the help and now onto a land without integrated graphics!
