Question Original HDD not detected after installing SSD

Good evening,

I'm trying to upgrade my laptop by placing the original HDD in a caddy and replacing it with an SSD.

When I try to boot it somehow only detects the SSD and not the old HDD. I've tried it with the SSD in the Caddy and with the SSD on the old hard disk slot with the HDD in the caddy but no luck so far. If I remove the SSD it detects the HDD without any issues.

I have an Acer Aspire V3-571 (NX.RYFEH.001).

Here's the disk selection without the SSD, it detects the original HDD with Windows on it:

Here's the disk selection with the SSD. It somehow doesn't see the HDD anymore:

Happy to provide more info if necessary.

You don't say if you've already got the SSD bootable...or is that the concern is that you need to copy the drive but since it's not showing you don't think you can?

When you boot into Windows with the HDD can you see the SSD in the caddy, in either Explorer or Device Manager?

What BIOS version?

Forgot to say - is the caddy attached via USB?
