I have an old laptop with an hdd with Windows 10 installed. Then I gave it to an aftermarket to install an ssd. and now I have both the ssd and the hdd installed.

They installed the ssd with windows 10 and the old copy of the os still in the hdd, but removed from the boot record.

I then installed windows 11 on the ssd and used it for a while. i had no issue running it, and since the old hdd was full of the old stuff, I wanted to clean it using the
Code:
diskpart clean
command and start over. it gave this error "
Code:
virtual disk service error: clean is not allowed on the disk containing the current boot
". I was then thinking why would the ssd still depend on the hdd and still cleaned the hdd using the same command in the recovery mode.

now the os won't show up on the boot record and won't boot up at all.

I put the windows 11 installation media on to a pendrive and booted it up again i get this error "invalid signature detected check secure boot"

also this computer is really old, and despite the warnings I still installed it windows 11 by bypassing the tpm, and secure boot limits using Rufus. I know I did a mistake here for installing it on unsupported hardware.

the question in my mind right now is, how did the ssd still depend on the hdd even after installing the os on a ssd.

I am really out of ideas right now. any help is appreciated.

thank you.

I think your issue was the installer itself, all you'd need to do is use Windows Media Creation Tools in an elevated command. Following that, you should remove the HDD(or any other drive apart from the rive you intend to install the OS onto) from your platform and then proceed with installing the OS.

Out of curiosity what is the make and model of your mystery laptop? You might want to stick to Windows 10 instead of going to Windows 11. I'm now curious to know where you sourced the installer for the OS.
