First of all, do you have v-sync enabled?, check under your graphic settings and if it is, disable it
Whats your average framerate on max settings and low settings?, use fraps to check
Whats your monitor resolution?
Singleplayer or multiplayer?
Do you have the latest Catalyst drivers installed (not the one that came with the disk) ?
Do you have stability issues, such as crashing, bsod's during long hours of gameplay?, The reason why I asked this is because a 280x recommends a 550 to 600 watt psu
And finally, is your processor overclocked?
By the way the multiplayer aspect of bf4 is very buggy and people do complain of lag, server crashes etc, but that shouldn't be the case with the singleplayer. You should also try updating to the latest version of the game
Please answer those questions and get back to me
Well, Multiplayer,
Max settings - fps = like 40-60
low settings - fps = 80-120 (with config)
Got latest drivers, not sure if catalyst or not.
CPU is not OC. (wouldn't know how)
no BSODs
and 60hz 1920x1080 samsung full led monitor
That looks good, remember that this is bf4 multiplayer and it is a chunk more demanding than your regular singleplayer game. Also they are still suffering with a few performance issues so make sure you have the game patched to the latest version, although it should auto update
If you want more performance, turn down the AA and make sure v-sync is off (remember your monitor is refreshed at 60Hz so if v-sync is on, it will never go above 60fps, but you will get screen tearing, that's normal),and you would get a chunk more fps without sacrificing much on visuals
Make sure you have the latest drivers, that would be 13.12, check in your Catalyst Control Centre which version you have
Also, you should get a boost in performance when bf4 releases the update for mantle which is exclusively for AMD gpu's, luckily you have one
How is the singleplayer performance?, average framerates, everything maxed
And one more question, Are those frame rates benchmarked on 64 player servers?
yes, 64 player servers, and I don't know about single player!
I actually meant, what's the average frame rate when playing the story mode or campaign on max settings?
G'day again, I was trying to say before that my gpu should be doing better! My old gpu was getting the same, if not better fps and I was watching a video of a guy with a gtx 660 and he was getting 200 flat, i downloaded his config and did all the things he recommended for fps and im still getting 50 fps, on a 32 player server with all my graphics on low. hahahahah just asking if you know anything at all i could do! thanks & I didnt buy a psu cause they said it should be ok, but my psu now isnt even 80+ bronze. maybe I need a better psu?
Is your gpu running at full clocks when playing bf4 ?, can you check that using a software called msi afterburner, also check the temperature of your gpu
Whats your average cpu temperature, while running the game?, use hwinfo64 to check that, it will be under sensors
Also post the clocks here, gpu clock and memory clock
Also, that guy on you tube is trolling, you can never get 200+ fps on bf4 multiplayer, 64 players, with everything maxed at 1080p even on a gtx 780 let alone a gtx 660. Trust me, don't trust the guys on youtube for benchmarks as half of them lie about their hardware. Rather go to sites like guru3d or even this one
And yes, this could relate to your power supply because the bare minimum for a 280x recommended by guru3d is 550W and you are currently under, plus you don't have a very good one. I recommend you get it changed to a 600W or above, preferably like the ones you mentioned in your previous posts (cx600 or seasonic)
Check those for me and report back
Yes, it's running at full clocks, core voltage is 1175, which surprised me.
GPU clock- 1000
Memory clock- 1500
GPU temp- 53-54 degrees celcius.
CPU temperature average- 58.2 degrees celcius.
There ya go

and I now know PLE is near me so is this power supply ok? bout the only money i got
http://www.ple.com.au/ViewItem.aspx?InventoryItemID=613850&CategoryID=519
And I could really smell an over heating smell today and I was playing on Siege of Shanghai on 32 player on low/off graphics and I couldn't reach 60 fps. on other maps it was fine getting to 120 but i want to play on high ya know?
Your temperatures are absolutely fine. Is that overheating smell coming from your power supply ?, if so I would immediately discontinue using it as you could risk damaging your whole system
XFX is known for making good power supplies as all are made by seasonic and that ts unit is actually a fairly new one that came out and so their aren't any reviews for it. But I checked the psu databses and it is in fact made by seasonic, so I give it a thumbs up
I wouldn't worry too much about bf4 as that game is really buggy and you are not the only one having performance issues. Things should get better after the mantle update which is due to release soon
How do your other games run ?
How much ram do you have ?, you should have about 8gb
Are you sure you have the latest drivers, 13.12 ?
Are you sure you are running an i7 processor ?, because the only thing I can think of is bottlenecking, but that is clearly not an issue with your i7 processor.
Honestly at this point, I can only think of the psu and a badly optimized game as being the problem here and I recommend you get it changed to that XFX especially after you have been experiencing some strange smells (maybe its being overworked). The 280x is a beasty card and is allot more powerful than your old 650ti
I will say it again, if that smell is coming from your psu, please
DISCONTINUE USING IT IMMEDIATELEY as you could risk damaging your whole system
