'Other' section now being indexed on Google

It was my understanding that the 'Other' section of THGC was not included in search engine indexing and was excluded, presumably by robots.txt or the like. I've just been doing a google for a quote that Mugz put up in a thread in the other and the first page returned via google is the thread in the Other.

Has there been a change of policy on this or does somebody need to get out the sonic screwdriver and fix the site?

Apparently we have been indexed for a while - can I ask why the hell we would want to bother indexing the other? Maybe it was the only way we could have a decent search facility 😛

Followup: I have checked with the forums team, and the person who sets moderation policy.

Moderation policy has not changed for the Other. There are also no plans to change it.

Google indexing now happens on the Other section.

Thanks for looking into it. It just seems strange to want to index the junk we post down there. As it was people searching for my name used to find my occasionally helpfull posts over in the Linux sections and not my efforts to mock RC and Riser.

Glad the mod policy is staying the same - brutal we can be but I've never seen anything dodgy. I must admit I did wonder if best off would ask us to calm it down there.
