Out of 4 gigs of physical memory (RAM) only 255 mb total in task manager in windows 7

My windows 7 was running really well, and I upgraded the ram to 4 gigs. Then, after three to four weeks, the computer slowed down greatly. Today, I checked the task manager, and in performance it said total physical memory 255 mb! But in the bios, it clearly detects that there are four sticks of 1 gb ram.

Are you sure that's the total, or total in use or free? Can you post a screenshot?

I figured it out, my msconfig settings were somehow changed, and the maximum amount of memory became 256mb, so I changed it back to no limit. Thanks for trying to help
