Please help! Everything is plugged in, but the build won't detect the monitor, so the fans on the graphics card stop spinning (at least, I guess that's why). Is this a motherboard problem, cpu, or what? I've tried 2 monitors, both with pin plugs, not USB. The only hookups for these are on the mobo. I'm at work stoppage until I know I've got a good hookup with a monitor. Thanks!

The fans stop spinning because they arent needed until under load. You don't have video because you don't have monitor plugged into gpu. You must plug into it tonget signal from it. You may have onboard vidoe but it will turn off once you install the gpu. What does rest of build look like

ASUS Pro Gaming mobo, 650 GS psu, GeForce 970 gpu, 16 gb ram, Hyper 212 cooler, WD Blue 1.0tb hard drive, 250 gb ssd, Thermaltake Overseer case, wireless adapter so the kids can play in their rooms.

So, since my GPU is plugged in, the peripheral ports won't work for video? That stinks because I only have the old-type monitors right now. This is my first build attempt. I bought the components for my sons (2 of each thing), and we're working on the first one now. I'm afraid to move forward without seeing anything on a screen.
