Question Over Temp

Just finished a new build.
H500m case
Maximus xi hero mobo
I7 9700k
Coolermaster 360r aio
RTX 2080

Hit power and it posted fine. (No OS installed) was in BIOS and the CPU temp immediately climbed till it hit over temp and shut the system down. The aio is plugged into the aio pump header and into a splitter from the cpu fan header. I know enough to be dangerous and don’t want to fry my system so looking for some advice to what’s causing the OT error.

Make sure the aio is tightly clamped on the cpu and the thermal goop ia applied liberally.

Done and done. I am wondering if it might be an issue between the original BIOS and a newer CPU

Just removed aio, cleaned thermal paste from cpu and reapplied. Reinstalled aio and ensured it was tight. Temps still climbed to over heat but at a slower rate.
