I would like to overclock my 3570k processor to 4.2GHz however I have no idea where to start. The motherboard I am currently using is the Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H. Are there any beginners guides or videos which give a detailed explanation as to how I can overclock my CPU to 4.2GHz?

i5 3570k @ 3.4GHz
Gigabyte SKT-1155 Z77X-UD3H Motherboard
8GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz RAM
Corsair H80i CPU Cooler
Corsair 750W PSU
EVGA NVIDIA GTX 670 FTW Signature Edition 2GB DDR5 PCI-E Graphics Card
Windows 7 installed on 250GB Samsung 840 SSD
1 TB Western Digital Caviar Blue HDD

Would the settings I would have to find be the CPU PLL volatage? If so how would I know which voltage setting is right for my system?

Like i said, read that thread i posted.

You start of at 1.2v and then increase it every time you lose stability.

When I go to CPU Core Voltage Control there are 6 different types. Which one do I set to 1.2v?

So basically all I have to do is set CPU Clock Ratio to 42 and CPU VCore to 1.2v and run the stress test. If it is unstable then increase voltage by 0.05v. Is that correct?

I have the same cpu and mobo as yours. I had my cpu overclocked to 4.5ghz with the following settings. I change the multiplier to 45, cpu vcore set to "normal" with offset at +0.01. Ram set to xmp profile1. Everything else at default. My vcore when fully loaded max out at 1.15v. Clear stability test with prime95, occt:cpu, occt avx linpack and also inludes gamepelay with BF4, Crysiis3, cod ghost, tomb raider. Hopes this info helps|
