Hey guy recently upgraded my onboard graphic card to a MSI GTX970 but now my overclock won't even boot I had to reset the factory setting, what could it be? I'm guessing PSU But wanted to confirm before wasting money

Asus P8Z68v Pro
Intel 2500k
8gb GSkill Ripjaws
MSI GTX970
212 Evo Heatsink
120gb SSD
Pice network card
2 120mm case fans
500w extra value ebuyer psu

2500k @ 4.7 @ 1.38vcore

I've had to downclock it to a stable 4.0 so I can play fallout

Can anyone help!

Your PSU is crap and is most definitely the cause of the problem. It can only supply 22A on the +12V rail, which provides 264W of power, and is not nearly enough for your build.

Take a look at this list and get a PSU in the highest tier that you can afford. Something with 500W-600W will be plenty and give you room for upgradability: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html

Solution
I'd recommend a higher tier over higher efficiency any day. Gold rated efficiency looks good from a marketing perspective, but the quality of the capacitors and other components is terrible. People think they're buying a quality product when they're not.

Unfortunately, even known brands have varying levels of quality. For example, Corsair PSUs are all over the place, with some at tier one and others at tier four.

It takes experience to sift the gold from the dirt.
The CX430 that I have is pretty good, and it's good in reviews too. But the CX750 is absolutely terrible.
Also, the M12II Seasonic seems to be a pretty good modular unit, even if only Bronze rated.

If the brands are good(especially Seasonic), higher efficiency usually equates to higher quality. Usually.
