Overclock worth it?

Hi Guys,

First PC build with Z370E, i5 8600k & ASUS GeForce GTX 1060 ROG Strix and Corsair H60 liquid cooling on a 1080P monitor @ultra settings.
Is it worth looking into overclocking or am I at too lower level to notice any benefit?
Thanks in advance community.

tbh for extra 4-5 fps its not worth the risk, but yolo xD

Well OC will result with better performance and with your cooling, adding 10% clock will be a breeze. 5 Ghz is quite easy target TBH, but stay on any you feel good about.

its very game dependant what you will gain, in video you have 3 fps, in project cars its ~20 fps.

this guide should take you to ~5Ghz ( I would stay around 4.5)

Defiantly but just take it slow, Do little adjustments at first and see how it responds.
Besides you did buy a liquid cooler and spend more for the K on the cpu

Overclocking your CPU would help, however you only have a GTX 1060 3GB, so overclocking your CPU won't give you that much of a frame rate boost vs say you having a 1080 or 1080 Ti.

Overclocking your GPU can help for sure, however pascal is already so good at auto overclocking (GPU Boost 3.0) that at most you'll get around 5-7% more performance.

Its a free preformance boost for not a lot of effort. The 8600K will get to 4.7 - 4.8GHz with ease and a simple multiplyer change to 47 or 48...Without causing any issues. Lots of good guides on you tube or articles on how to push coffee lake. And as Kenneth says. you paid for a 'K' Chip...now use it to its best!!!

I'd be careful, just going strait up to 4.7ghz on auto voltage could overvolt the CPU too much. Not kill it, but typically auto voltage likes to put in way higher voltages than necessary.

But, sure, if you just play with vcore and multiplier, yeah 4.7ghz easy.

I am not a expert in CPU thermal tech on this so I will defer to TechyInAZ...would not want to blow a cpu through my mistake!
