Hello,

My question is as follows, right now I have the following Rig..

a8v motherboard
athlon 64 3700
patriot 1 gig ( 1 piece) cas latency 2.3.2.5 cas 2
600 watt power supply 12v rail at 26amps
gt6600 apg card

I have it overclocked very nicely from 2.2 ghz to 2.8 ghz. My question is can I do more? It is only idiling at 36 c thanks to a 120mm fan and arctic silver 5 and a good heatsink and fan. I have the fsb at an amazing 260. The memory is top notch. Does anyone have any idea if i could push anymore. Voltage on the cpu is set at 1.525. Thanks!

thats great, i have an a8v with a 3200+ & have it over clocked to 2.4 with the standard heat sink. i wondered if i could push it more as i used the memory divider & my ram is at 201 & my fsb is at 240. volts is at 1.4, temp is also at 36 c. i only have corsair value select. didn't know how it would be for over clocking. looks like if my ram can oc any, i might get more out of the system. i don't have an answer for your question of course, but you have helped me, thanks & good luck. let me know if you do get more.

That is pretty good. This was my first true expierence with athlon 64. I loved socket 478/socket a for so long i was very reluctant to leave it. I guess when you know alot about something you are very resistant to change. The socket 939 are very overclockable. I would increase the voltage of the cpu bu one notch in your bios then start increasing the FSB. See if you can hit any higher numbers

Hey,
I have two pc's now with intel cpu's...i just started purchasing a gaming system I went with some recomendations of the Athlon 64 3700+ and a Asus A8N-sli premium mobo...Does this sound like a good como for starting out???

Since this sytem is just going to be for gaming I figured I would give Amd a try.

any info would be great.

P.S. Any idea when AMD is going to start cutting prices???

Your System is great. TO give you an example, I just hit 2.8 ghz with my athlon 3700 that is suppose to run at 2.2 . It has great overclockability. I was able to heat 3ghz...however i was running thre vcore on the cpu at 1.6 volts and the memory was at 2.8 volts and it would not pass a prime 95 test so i dropped it back down. if i was using water cooling i could has hit 3.2 i believe.

AS for the the prices...well they are a little steep. If you check out ebay you can ususally get a better deal by about 20% just beware.

I actually got the the cpu and the board for about $380.00 at newegg.com
I did a lot of deal hunting including ebay...wondering if I should keep the board and send back the cpu and wait for the price to drop

thanks for your info

i cant get mine any higher due to the poor voltages supplied by the dualsata board im using. its still a sterling OC u got.
