Hi Friends

So I got Intel Core i7-4790K and first time overclocked it. Did Intel Extreme Utility Bench, CPU-Z Bench and Cinebench. System stable without any issue.

Also did Overclocked to 4.5Ghz @1.181V.

Only changed Core voltage in BIOS to 1.2 to achieve stable 4.6Ghz rest all settings in BIOS is on AUTO.

I wanna ask is it possible to down Voltage because @1.191V, Intel Extreme Utility bench reached to Half and PC restart. or 1.2V is good enough for 4.6Ghz

Also my temps are OK at this Frequency? FYI, @4.5Ghz Maximum Temp in IEU at 77C and GPU-Z and Cinebench at 67C.

My Rig:

Gigabyte H97-D3H (Rev 1.1) Bios Ver "F5"
Intel Core i7 4790K OC @4.6Ghz
16GB DDR3 1600Mhz
Corsair H100i V2 Liquid Cooler
Aorus Geforce GTX1060 Xtreme Edition 6GB (Rev 2.0)
BenQ 2270 - 1920x1080p
PSU FSP Epsilon 600Watts 80Plus
Casing Corsair Crystal 570X RGB

Here are results:

Are you asking if you should use 1.191v instead of 1.2v? If so you are talking about a 0.009v difference which is such a tiny difference it would not matter. And it makes me wonder if your PC won’t bench at 1.191v but will at 1.2v then maybe 1.2v isn’t enough either. Stress test your whole system for a few hours with Prime95 no avx or similar tool such as intel burn test or Asus RealBench.

Yes I am also surprised that system crash at 1.191v but stable at 1.2V. Played Assassin's Creed Origins at Ultra Settings and temp between 58C - 62C. Game is running very very smooth than earlier.

Others applications / software are working faster than earlier.

I want to ask that can I go further i.e. to 4.7Ghz. I heard that more overclocking need more power. So is my PSU enough to handle 4.7Ghz with Aorus 1060, which alone require 400Watts?

If yes then what will be stable Voltage for 4.7Ghz because higher voltage will heat-up the chip more.

I am new to overclocking so don't know much about it. Only read different posts, views and reviews.

Games are not accurate to see if your system is stable. Stress tests will determine stability, prime95, RealBench, intel burn test etc. If your pc is stable like you say I would be happy with where you are at as long as temps are ok

Noted. However, I heard that Latest Prime95 is not good for 4th Gen. If possible, please advise which version is best for 4th Gen Processor. Due to shortage of timing, I can do stress test with only one of software for an hour, you mentioned.

So advise which one will be more suitable to check system stability.

I did other Stress test but nothing work.

However, I used Realbecnh and its worked flawlessly. Here is the screen shot.

Is it OK or do I need other tests? Please let me know.

However, my system is very stable at both @4.5Ghz and @4.6Ghz.

Stress test fail after 5 minutes and getting same error i.e. Blue Screen which showing Clock_Watchdog_Stop.

FYI, I recently change the motherboard to GA-H97-D3H. My old mobo B85M-D3H dead.
But I didn't install new / fresh windows 10. Just connect my HDD to new mobo and windows 10 booted up.

So is this the issue i.e. do I have to install fresh windows 10 or is there anything I have to do first?
Please guide me.

Also if you check Real Bench Pic then you will find that its showing in red at bottom of pic that

"Unable to properly parse System Specs. Please report in RealBench Forum"

Same thing happening when I bench with Intel Extreme Utility, Bench passed but when I try to compare online its giving me same result.

Is it sign that I have to re-install windows 10 or anything else?
