Overclocked GT 1030 Results

Hello i purchased GT 1030 and i said that im going to oc it, and a lot of people said that its pointless. I oc the card with 270 mhz on core and 651 on memory(im sure i can go even higher) and i gained 7-8 fps on Dying Light, The Evil Within 2, The forest etc.. Does anyone oc their 1030 and what impact does the oc have. For me its doing magic.

Overclocking gpus is overrated, usually only get about those fps gains anyway with any card, not a drastic increase. If the 1030 makes you happy so be it but 1050ti minimum if you're concerned with gaming.

For future reference, use PERCENTAGES or state the original FPS since "7-8 fps" has no meaning otherwise. If you had 8FPS that could be double. If you had 100FPS it's only 8%.

But yes, overclocking the GT1030 is far from pointless. In fact, with a good fan you may go from a set max of 1600MHz up to 2000MHz. The max turbo boost value is usually exceeded in practice (i.e. 1500MHz set but 1600MHz in practice with sufficient cooling) but overclocking simply raises the ceiling.

So assuming 270MHz over say 1700MHz max then that's a 16% higher frequency on the GPU.

Assuming you also got that scaled in the game then it would translate from roughly 50FPS to 58FPS... am I close?

*So I don't have a GT1030 but I do understand NVidia Turbo Boost. All cards benefit provided the cooler is sufficient under load... so there will be cards that have small fans or even NO fans that should not do this.

People with sufficient cooling should definitely do this though if they game and want up to 20% or so more performance.

From 1227 default core plus 270 and its boosting to 1978-1970. Memory is from 3004 to 3651. And 7-8 fps gained from oc on this level ot graphics cars is somewhat decent It means playable and unplayable in Dying Light
