My Build: BOARD: Rog Strix x570-I gaming CPU: Ryzen 7 5800x GPU: GeForce RTX 3060 GIGABYTE RAM: G.Skill DDR4 14-14-14-34 ram 32gb 16x2 3600mhz COOLING: Masterliquid ML240L RGB + 2 other smaller chassis fans CASE: NZXT H210 mini itx case

Okay maybe the title was a little off... I want to Underclock to keep temps down while gaining more performance because The sun shines directly into my room from about 3-when the sun sets..... also I just started to build/get interested in computers a bit more recently and have tried to do some OC/UV here and there but I always tend to end up "breaking" or just having problems constantly cuz I don't really know what I am doing. I'm like a 1st grader level so I might not understand everything everyone says so sorry D: Anything helps!!!!
Lets see if this build can become cold, fast, and quiet XD
Thank you!!!

With a 5800x you'll want to enable PBO2 and use curve optimizer. Ryzen Msster has a curve optimizer test built in. Personally I'd just use HWINFO64 and find your best core, set it to -15 regardless what CO says. You'll get more speed AND lower Temps

Thanks for the reply! Lemme send some pics of the setting I have of my bios! I have both turned on well i know i use both but idk the difference between PBO and PBO2 and i think my curves are set to negative 10 or 15 atm also!

Start with a guide: https://www.igorslab.de/en/amd-ryze...l-power-and-lower-temperatures-practice-test/
Always test stuff on your own. Cinebench and 3D-Mark aren't that heacy on the CPU either IIRC. Cinebench for sure isn't. Check for stability and that voltage stays within "safe" levels with Prime95, small FFTs. Typically, I don't run Prime95 for very long. 5 minutes maybe, so AIOs water gets warm. I see no point in running Prime95 for hours or overnight.

And those are synthetic tests. Also test with what ever applications you use, rarely and normally. Be that compiling source code, Handbrake, different games that load CPU differently etc.

Youtube-video-guides: Anyone can make a video. It doesn't have to be good or accurate. I would take those with a grain of salt. As I said, test yourself, trust what your computer tells you, not some chart in some video.
There is always variation, to every computer part.

You could also rummage around here: https://www.reddit.com/r/overclocking/ Generally knowledgeable people. https://www.overclock.net/search/868587/?q=5800x&o=relevance Here also.

I just did a lil numbers game in the bios prior to reading your coment and got the mobo yellow light DRAM ERROR so that was that lmao. DO u have any idea what i might have changed that could have caused that error? To fix it i just rest the cmos
Results :D

What are actual highest temps you are getting under load ? Those in your pictures are more than fine.

Those are very, very low temps but 1 minute is not nearly enough considering water cooling. Need at least 15-30 minutes for temps to stabilize.
See what CPU temps are during Cine BenchCB r23 test and few rounds of it.
I usually run test for an hour or two but this time it crashed within the minuite
like pc powered off. I don't know what the problem was :/

update:
so... I think my cpu clocks are all good and at where i want them to be temp wise also.
But the problem nwo is my gpu,,,, It might just be me not having enouhg cooling shifting through my case but when playing games it can get close to 80 and
im pretty sure that is not good.

80c is on a high side for that GPU, can you set fan speed curve higher and to start full speed earlier ?
If you can, try setting speed to full. that would tell you if it's because of cooling. GPUs can also be undervolted and some times it can also improve performance.

AIDA Stability test is a low load test. I would be worried about the temps. My 5600X sits at 73 C at its highest. Why am I worried? Well, you try run Prime95 on that machine and it will throttle down or crash pretty much instantly. Why? Because it is a proper load. On my machine, Prime95 makes my temps go up 20 C, so around 90 C. Can you deal with another 20 C? I don't think so. There is good enough and then there is stable OC.

Yellow DRAM light? If you are RAM overclocking, get used to it happening 50 times a day. It's not a big deal.

What you did wrong? You change one thing at a time. So when it fails, you know what you did wrong. The last thing you did just before you crashed. Changing 10 things at a time, you will have no idea what failed. Be methodical.
I would start with seeing what is the lowest CPU voltage you can boot your machine with. Just boot. It's another matter to get to Windows. Usually requires more voltage. So add some. And then stresstests like Prime95 require a bit more again. Start from the bottom, the lowest voltage, maybe 1.10v and work your way up. Play with LLC. LLC 2 or 3. The higher ones are for LN2-cooling.

Look under DIGI-VRM for LLC. Load-Line Calibration. For CPU I keep mine on 3. Current Capability 120%. For SOC, LLC 2, Current 120%. You can play with the hertz too, how fast the VRM reacts, i think it is. 3-600 Khz maybe is usually the range.
https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/21417/motherboard-vrm-power-guide Switching Frequency. I keep mine at 300 or 500. I haven't really noticed anything.

80C isn't going to damage the GPU. Most GPUs' stock fan curve will ramp fans up/down to not exceed 75C though. So higher than 75C would suggest either:
  • the cooler isn't the best (too small, not enough fins, not many heatpipes, etc etc)
  • the cooler isn't functioning properly (bad contact with the GPU)
  • Not enough case airflow (should have at least 2 front intake fans on your case, and hopefully they're minimally obstructed.
If you're concerned about the temperature of your ROOM, that has to do with wattage, not component temp.

I run my 3060Ti undervolted and power limited to 70% power with minimal impact to performance.

The PBO curve optimizer to -15 on all cores for the 5800X is a safe bet for stability. May not reduce temps or power draw though, unless/until you hit other limits (like frequency limit). It will just open up more power headroom for the chip to boost to higher frequency. To reduce the power draw in a more direct manner, you'll want to reduce "PPT" in the curve optimizer settings.
