Hey, so what the titlw says. I made a dumb mistake by purchasing a motherboard with max fsb speed with 1066 with a cpu that needs 1333mhz fsb. System works normally like is. But the cpu is clocked at 2.4ghz (from stock 3.0). If you can give me any tips how can i overclock it to at least 3.0ghz.
Cpu: xeon e5450
Mb: asus p5b
Ram: 2x2gb 800mhz; 2x1gb 566mhz ddr2 sticks.

Solution
I would forget the Xeon swap. The best 1066 Xeon equals a Q6700. Get a QX6800 SLACP and don't look back.
The computer in my sig. (check the link) has a locked BIOS and 1066FSB. 3GHz is childs play.
The QX6850 is 1333fsb also and willl run base 2.4GHz but it is cheaper if that's an issue. same G0 stepping.
if your MB has a locked BIOS use Throttlestop 6.00
it controls Voltage and multiplier in Windows.
Yes I know it's a bad idea mixing but as far as I know its just going to underclock the ram to the lowest ram speed. Im using an aftermarket zalman cooler and currently idle temperatures are around 25 to 28 and with prime95 around 40 44

First download CPU-Z and run it and tell me what do you see under Clocks Core EX
Core speed 4.3
Multiplier x16
Bus speed 270 Mhz
Rated FSB 1080 Mhz

He could get away By setting DRAM speed at 667 by setting Rated timings for all ram sticks in cpu-z. ive done that once and worked fine.

Because in CPU-Z under SPD tab can see which timing is for which frequency and on that way he can conclude for all 3 modules which timings will work for all ram sticks.

If i have to i will ditch the 2x1gb 566mhz ram but even then, any clue how much performance i will get from the cpu? Since the lowe mb fsb. Is it possible to overclock the fsb to 1333 from 1066? Sorry for this questions no very familiar with ocing

Sorry for taking so long.. got another problem now. I've upgraded the microcodes for the xeon but now i can sometimes get into windows, sometimes not. Made a new thread about this problem but so far nothing.

I know, but I've followed a very good explained tutorial. Besides before updating the microcode I kept getting a message for a new CPU installed and it didn't even let me configurate bios.
Yes I did. Twice even.

Have you done it by taking the CMOS battery out? IF not try that too.

Actually that's what I did. I haven't used the pins method.

Turn off, unplug from wall outlet, press hold power button down for 15-20 secs to drain caps, then take battery out, short pins for 10-15 secs, put battery back on the board, plug back into outlet and fire up.

Ok just tried it. Same result.
