Hi, this is my first build, but I thought about overclocking my CPU.

So from 3.3GHz I managed to get the CPU up to 4.5GHz. Although, I didn't change any of the settings, except changing the RAM specs to XMP...etc... so that my CPU processor speed was multiplied by 125MHz instead of 100MHz, and then increasing the 29 clock speed to 36 I believe.
Everything else I kept on auto because after messing around with some voltages and everything, my PC didn't turn on.

It seems to be working because I ran some CPU temps. using AIDA64 and the max CPU temp was 70 degrees celsius.

So, is this OK? I am very new to overclocking, but does anyone have some recommended settings for my setup?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

p.s. I created another thread asking a question that may be related to this. It is about my PC sometimes not turning on straight away. Here is the thread link if anyone would be ever so kind to take a look. Once again, I say thank you: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-2744119/custom-someitmes-turn-straight.html

Solution
Aida64 I find to be a little "lighter" for stress testing. Give intel burn test a go. Run it at maximum for 10 passes. If that passes do a 8hour run of the x264 stress test. If that passes and your max temps are below 85 or so you are very stable. Also try some games and benchmarks. I had my 5930k pass a few hours of Aida64 at 4.6ghz but then crashed almost instantly while trying to transcode in handbrake.

Ok, I will download that software and have a go. At the moment I have downloaded just simple games like League of Legends (because I used to play this on my laptop before this beast of a build) and they are running fine at max settings. I am waiting for Steam to download now and I'll see how my machine copes with Witcher III.

Thanks for your help!
