Hello,
i am tryinto get a perfornce peak/ stable peformance up to 4.2 Ghz .but for some odd reason it will only go up to 3.8 i have let it auto tune it self but no results any advice on how to get up to 4.2 Ghz

Solution
I actually have this exact model board and a Phenom X4 965 on it.... reading this thread has been a nice chance to reaffirm some of my settings and reconsider others- but man, if there is one thing I can say, it's that this board is the MOST user-friendly BIOS interface I have ever seen. You navigate the freakin' BIOS screens with the mouse and have the option of picking values from a drop-down or using the keyboard. If there is a basic understanding of concepts like base frequency, multipliers and CPU/NB/Memory relationship, you should be able to almost fiddle with the settings for an hour and come up with something from trial and error.

I think that my advice to the OP would be to read up on the dozens of thread about overclocking...

lol ok sorry to ask this but there are a few things that i dont know the meaning to like the LLC or FSB? again sorry but put that into dummy terms for me

LLC is load line calibration: it raises the CPU operating voltage while under load to compensate for vdroop (voltage drop under load).

FSB stands for Front side bus: it is the reference clock for cpu, NB, and ram. default setting is 200 for Phenom II's. So for cpu speed it is multi*FSB. example 20*200=4000Mhz.

It'd be safer to try some more modest settings like vcore of 1.48volts and multi of 20 or 20.5, leaving FSB at 200.

I just took a look at the manual for your board and it appears you should have access to all these settings I've listed. Just make sure you are in advanced Bios mode, under AI tuner tab, AI tuner set to manual mode, and auto overclock set to cancel. Then just scroll down and you should find access to all the settings you could ever want and then a bunch more.

You know i can do this also in the AMD Overdrive ...but still do it in the bios?

Most people recommend using Bios for best control over system settings as well as more settings available for tweaking. Plus voltage control increments are likely smaller in the bios then they are in any software available.

My board has a near identical (if not identical) bios. It's a really nice interface and even offers pretty decent descriptions for the settings, so you should really give it a shot.

I no longer have overdrive does it have a setting for LLC?

I think that my advice to the OP would be to read up on the dozens of thread about overclocking X4 Black CPU's and get a feel for why each setting does what it does, and not focus solely on coming across the perfect combination of settings without knowing why they work. I'm not trying to be condescending- I had no idea what i was doing trying to install any components or change the boot drive in BIOS six months ago. Figuring out why you're doing what the "how-to" guides tell you to do is the key. I compare it to how easy learning a stick-shift becomes once you understand what the clutch plates do and what the purpose of disengaging them before changing gears is.
