i want to overclock my i5 8600k cpu higher than what it currently is, which is 3.6GHz. I saw a "CPU Upgrade" option in my bios. I have a Gigabyte z370 hd3 mobo and in cpu upgrade ive got 3 options, 4.3 4.5 or 4.7 GHz. Was wondering how far i can go without blowing up my CPU. This is the first time ive ever overclocked my CPU.

Ive got an 800w PSU
and 3200hz Corsair Vengence ram

You'll probably want to do a little bit of reading on the topic to get more comfortable. While it is not as complicated as it used to be, it is still good to know what is going on in case something goes wrong.

1. Here's a general overview for overclocking Coffee Lake processors: https://www.tweaktown.com/guides/8481/coffee-lake-overclocking-guide/index.html
2. And here is a guide specific to your mobo: https://overclocking.guide/gigabyte-z370-overclocking-coffee-lake/

And on that ez tuning wizard, you can choose any option and that processor can handle it. You will just want to monitor temperatures closely. The problem with those auto overclocking options is that they are not always efficient or stable. It is much better to do it...

You can't blow up newer CPUs with Auto OC as the motherboard has measures enabled to prevent it. If you do blow it up, we can be sure it was faulty to begin with. Just update the BIOS before you begin.

An experienced overclocker can OC the i5 8600k to 5.0GHz or more, so it should be able to handle the numbers you're showing.

Just keep your max temps below 80c.

I wouldnt use preset oc's. They tend to push the voltage alot higher than it needs to be. I would watch a few videos read a few articles on ocing then give it a shot just take your time and watch the temps.
