I want to overclock my processor a bit, as I hear that it's free speed for Skylake CPU's. I was thinking to change the multiplier to 42, but can I also change my RAM speed to the full 3000? Is this dangerous? Will it cause a performance increase?

Solution
Unless you increase voltages, the risk is very low. As for performance, the gain will be slim to none in most games and other software, unless you run applications that are exceptionally sensitive to memory bandwidth.
