Hello everyone here.

One great helpful friend helped me oc my q6600 decently as i know it's quite an old cpu right now.

On stock cooler i got it to 2.71 ghz. So everything stable maximum usage gets 49 temp maximum all that on bf4 32 man servers and bf3 64 man servers, it goes with no bottleneck to the gtx 650 now, among this system i've got a ddr3 4Gb ram.

I'm asking you guys what would be the safe temperature for further OC under stock cooler ?
And how much more can i OC it so it would hit safe TEMP not some crazy 75 degrees shit.

I wanna get to 2.9. And so far i only OC'd as im a noob to it with changing the fsb. That was it. Ive seen u got to change voltage and was told for further off 2.71 on i need to change the voltage.

If i need to tell you something more to answer me just ask me, im there.

Thanks allot !

I know this is an old thread and you may have found the information you need elsewhere but I thought I'd chip in. I also have an overlocked Q6600 @3.42ghz, which is the fastest stable speed I been able to reach so far.

Max voltage I've tried is 1.46250. HWMonitor tells me the CPU is pulling 1.412v when I run at 3.42ghz. The core temps are always under 65 deg C.

I use a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo cpu fan. It works really well below 3.5 ghz. Hope this helps.
if your using the stock cooler then you probably won't get a high overclock, but i'd assume 2.9 would be manageable.

when your processor reaches 70C+ is when you need to really start watching temps.

For now though, up the FSB a little bit until your stress tests or temperature make the computer do an emergency shutdown. If your temps are fine then apply a little more vcore into the cpu.

Can u please teach me how exactly much i need to aply vcore?
Sorry bro but im a complete noob here understand that one. So il try raising it to around 2.8 let's say. Then i do tests on lets say prime ? And after that i get to do some vcore + ? Around how much of vcore + ? If on 2.8 the tests give me below 60 degrees right ? Thanks.
